Redressal of grievances of consumers under the
Consumer Protection
Act,1986, through the
State Commission and
21 District Fora, thereby ensuring consumer protection and safeguarding
them against unfair trade practices.
Administration of Standards of Weights & Measures Act,1976 and
Standards of Weights & Measures (Enforcement)Act,1985
by way of
(a) regular checking of weights and measures and
re-verification and stamping thereof through the Legal Metrology
Organisation to prevent the cheating the public through use of
fraudulent weights and measures.

(b) Monitoring, manufacturing, repairing and vending of weights
and measures through licensing by the
Legal Metrology Organisation
,
conducting raid programmes and holding camps at market places for
generating public awareness. The supervision will be extended to meters
of taxis, electricity, water etc.

Ensuring consumer awareness,
Educating consumer, various consumer activists
and other NGOs through training programmes organized by the Directorate of Consumer Affairs & Fair Business Practices
